How it works
Atenolol blocks the action of certain chemical messengers on the heart and blood vessels. This effect reduces heartbeat, blood pressure, and strain on the heart following a heart attack. Losartan is an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB). It works by relaxing blood vessels which lower the blood pressure and also reduces the workload of the heart.
